Photo grabbed from Mathnasium
"A life without a cause is a life without effect." - Paulo Coelho

Though  I've already made a post about my resolutions, I also wanted to share to you guys what are my specific goals for the year and see for myself whether I would be able to achieve them by the year ends. Here are they :

  1. read at least 15 books
  2. design and decorate my personal book nook
  3. transfer to a house/apartment where "the husband" and I will dwell ;)
  4. get fit and stay that way
  5. conceive twins ----- yeah, I'm claiming it in God's name. :)

What about you, what are your goals for 2018?

See my resolutions here. Enjoy reading!

On Poetry: The Beast That Resides in You

Having enrolled in a Poetry class in your MA, it is for sure expected that you have to produce an output of your own. And so here goes mine, both the original and revised version.

The Beast That Resides In You

by Cee Brensan

Fear is when you cease to try,
To try the things that will make you cry.
You cry for you may not give your best;
For in your mind you have the biggest beast
But dear friend, I'll tell you one advice,
It is the Fear, in you resides.

Words from Wise Women: Sandra Bullock

"I have so many people to thank for my good fortune , and this is once-in-a-lifetime experience, I know." - Sandra Bullock

Photo from Perez Hilton
Talk about another person I look up to in the movie industry? Yes! Sandra Bullock, she is. Last Friday, the great Good Friday , my sisters and I had a little short staycation in a friend's house as they went to Bangkok to enjoy the Holy Week, we happened to watch the movie The Blind Side with of course the ever stunning, Sandra.

As I watched the movie I am reminded of her immense prowess in acting which could make you either laugh so achingly or cry so sweetly. She just has this undeniable ability to make her audience , in whatever film , she's in love her the most. She's just so fierce yet so gentle , bold yet unnerved, and above all comedian yet not. She's just a perfect combination of all those opposites which made me so much satisfied whenever I watch a movie of her. Watch her The Proposal, The Blind Side, Miss Congeniality, While You Were Sleeping , The Lake House, Hope Floats , 28 Days, All About Steve and  lot more then you'll surely have hard time adjusting your jaw from too much laughing , eyes from too much crying , and heart from too much hurting  back to their normal being.

And the introductory quote , which speaks of my life's status at the moment  , I used kept reappearing on my mind as I watched her and so I told myself, she deserves to be in my blog so whenever I just think of her outlooks in life I can just open my site, and so this happens.

Others of my favorites are these:

"I've been granted so many times with different experiences."
"When someone who cares about you hugs you , hug them back with two arms. Don't do the one armed hug. 'Cause when you hug with two arms ,  it allows you to lean on somebody and we always need someone to lean on."
"Sometimes , questions come at you that you just don't know how to answer."
"Composing means you have beginning , middle , and end and a fluidity to what you are doing ."
"Beginnings are usually scary and ending are usually sad , but it's the middle that counts. You have to remember this when you find yourself in the beginning."
" . . . relationships that start under intense circumstances , they  never last."
" . . . there is no race , no religion , no class system , no color , nothing , no sexual orientation , that makes us better than anyone else . We are all deserving of love."
"I have to step up and be the best version of myself so whatever is asked of me , I can produce.  So yes ,  everyday I'm grateful."
"I've made peace with the fact that the thing that I thought were weaknesses or flaws were just me. I like them."
"You don't have to give birth to someone to have a family. We're all family --- an extended family."
"I was rejected in school because I didn't look like the big-breasted, beautiful girls. I was awkward and sad. My mother always said, "Be Original", but I didn't understand until I changed to be like everyone else. Once I fit in, I was like, "What have I done? I realized that my friends before were much cooler, with a great sense of humor and a way of looking at the world that was more fun. But if I haven't gone through that I wouldn't have been drive to make my oddities cool. It's what made me have a sens of humor and a thick skin.
"I'm a true believer in karma . You get what you give whether it's good or bad."
"If I die tomorrow, will I have gotten everything in the world I've ever wanted? No. But I will have gotten everything that made me the happiest."

And because my life's season at the very moment , if I am to say , is at its peak of success,  this one summarizes everything:
"Success comes in a very prickly package. Whether you choose to accept it or not, is up to you."
"Nothing is a failure , it's just not supposed to work out that way because something better is supposed to come along."

Words from Wise Women : Kate Winslet

"I wouldn't dream of working on something that didn't make my gut rumble and my heart want to explode." - Kate Winslet

Photo from Independent
Last Monday, my site has given birth to another category of post: Musings of Might Men. And so starting today , Wednesday in specific , yours truly will have to post exquisite quotes I found much more than amusing from wise women I look up to and adore. These quotes either mean to be sooo me or that they coincide my beliefs and/or principles in life or better yet they are just so perfect that they seem to stun my entire being . To begin with, let's have the ever gorgeous,  Kate Winslet . ;)

The very first moment I saw her was in Titanic back when I was in third grade. And as a young film viewer that time, who would ever forget that unsinkable ship , the Titanic with this beautiful lady and a very strategic and talented man? None of course!

Though we're on the same gender, I was mesmerized by her beauty. I so admired her even I was at the ripe age of  nine and I knew right that very moment, she was different among other actresses ( though for the fact I knew only a few back then ) She was real. Ever since then so many of her films have become my all-time favorites (the very recent  The Dressmaker, The Reader, The Holiday , Finding Neverland . . .  and the list goes on)  She's the type of actress I respect profusely ; fantastic at her craft , and so honest about life. She's really someone I'm proud to see in various magazine covers (which I do not own , hahahha) and someone I look up to when it comes to body image. :)

So here are a few of  her words of wisdom:
"I was a wayward child , very passionate and very determined. If I made up my mind to something, there was no stopping me."
"Yes, my life is incredible but oh my god, I have to work at it. It's the same way for any working woman. You run and you work and  you try not to let anything drop."
"There are moments to indulge and enjoy , but I always know when to go home and wash my knickers."
"As a child, I never heard one woman say to me : 'I love my body.' Not my mother , my elder sister , my best friend. Not one woman has ever said : 'I am so proud of my body.' So, I make sure I say it to Mia because a positive physical outlook has to start  from a very early age."
"I think it's very important to teach your children to struggle on some level."
"I'd much rather be known as some curvy Kate  than as some skinny stick.
"Nobody is perfect. I just don't believe in perfection. But I do believe in saying, 'This is who I am and look at me not being perfect.' I'm proud of that."
 "There's more life than cheekbone."
"I need to be looked after. I'm not talking about diamond rings and  nice restaurants and fancy stuff --- in fact  that makes me uncomfortable. I didn't grow up with it and it's not me , you know. But I need someone to say to me : Shall I run you a bath?' or ' Let's go to the pub , just us.'"
"I do think that's important to young women to know that magazine covers are retouched.  People don't really look like that . In films I might look glamorous , but I've been in hair and make up for two hours."
"Even now I do not consider myself to be some kind of great , sexy beauty . I don't mind the way I'm aging . No reason to panic just yet .  The Lord God Almighty  has done me proud with my features  which I'm proud of and have no desire to alter them. I say ' Let take its course."'
"I don't feel like a movie star  in my life at all , and I don't particularly think  I behave like one . I don't have my own plane . I don't have a chef or a trainer .  To me you're a movie star during the time you are at the Academy Awards or at an important glamorous event. It's very much a hat that you wear ,  and as soon as the event's over ,  that hat comes off.  I'm back to being me  and being Mommy , and that's my priority.''
"When you're the mother of  small children , life becomes a holiday."
"Life is short , and it's here to be lived."
