My Real Teleport Scroll to Heaven: His Proposal

“The universe only makes sense when we have someone to share our feelings with.”

Some years way back in my MUHS days, I once told a colleague/mentor/sister/ and a very good confidante, Ms. Mae,  as to what would it be like to have my own love story be published in my blog. Disapproval was what I got as she rejected the idea by saying I should better reserve it for the perfect day to come. As my comeback (a no-longer-new issue of me ceasing blogging for a while, hahah) I believe, hence, this is a perfect time , not to really publish a blog of our "love story" but of what had happened exactly 1 month ago today, which I believe embarks a very momentous significance in our so-called affair.

Never did I imagine that  December 19, 2015 (Saturday), my birthday to be specific, would permanently be tattooed on my mind as I had never thought that my very special best friend would kneel down in front of me first thing in the morning as I woke up, with my mother's approval, asking me the most desirable question a woman wants to answer with unexplainable feelings EVER!!!!

(Oppps! Sorry for the run-on sentence. It's actually  the FEELS talking this time! hahahah!!)

Spare me some of the details for I, together with my family and a few very close friends, already have preserved them in our minds. But I'd like to share a few of them, too! So here they go.

Since it was a Saturday, and I had a very busy week in school prior to that with him always being my driver he had entirely a very good reason to excuse himself of buying me a gift on my birthday. That morning I went out of my room, confused was all I had been for gone were the people around the house. I checked everywhere, but none I found, only to realize that my mother and my siblings already went to the grandparents' house  a few feet away. As what I usually do there every morning, I headed to the veranda to at least be freshened up by the cold morning breeze. I was astounded as he was already waiting there greeting me "Happy Birthday" in the very unusual way. He then asked me if I wanted to see "the gift" he had for me. What do you expect me to say??? Of course YES was all I exclaimed.

While handing me this, he asked his apologies, for according to him since we both were busy that week he really didn't get the chance to buy an extra special one, that I shouldn't expect too much as I open it for I might fail my expectations. I ranted of course. Hahahah! I said, "Ahhh! Grabe! Wa sad ka nangita ug laing ways no? Dili na uso effort dinha?''

I wasn't able to finish my whining for he already had placed his finger in my lips shutting me up right away.

Him: Paghilom sa kay wa pa ko nahuman. Sige abrehe na.

 And so I obliged.

I was already brought to cloud 9 seeing this. A compilation of quotes from my most favorite author, Paulo Coelho. :)

But then, I got the feeling something was inside the book for it felt so lumpy. I was expecting it to be a metal bookmark, something I am really eager to own. But before I had opened it, he held my hands and started his speech. :))))

One of the lines he had which I will never ever forget was "Mang, willing ka mouban nku for the rest of my life? And I was like, "Wait sa, nagpropose ka paw?" Hahahaha  and so he continued. And at the end of his speech, he popped the will-you-marry-me question while opening the most middle part of the book.

Right in the middle of the book is an illustration of a heart. And right in the middle of the heart laid the ring tied with the book's red bookmark. I answered YES absolutely! :)

Perfect was all I could describe. Of the feeling. Of the Day. Of the Date. Of the Place. Of his proposal. It may never be what I had expected to happen, it may never be the same with what I had set in my mind, yet his way of doing it in the most sincerest way was already something I couldn't ask for more. And if by any chance I will be given another opportunity to plan a proposal in a way I wanted it to happen, I will still want  his for he had given me boundless of joy, immeasurable happiness, and rambling butterflies in my stomach. It was a day as if all the butterflies in the world were collected and placed right in my belly. Funny feeling it was. I was astonished. I was entirely happy that no single word in the English dictionary can convey. And just like that I was transported to heaven. :)))

Here are a few of what were written inside :))

One of the few questions he scribbled in the book. When I answered he then wrote on it the YES!! (Just dont mind his exclamation marks which look like question marks, nyahahah)

I said YES! :)

Manuscript Found in Accra by Paulo Coelho

Bookish Mardi: A Book Review of Manuscript Found in Accra
by Paulo Coelho

"The great wisdom of life is that we can be masters of the things that try to enslave us." - Paulo Coelho

I'd like to start this review by telling you guys I have always been a spoiled girlfriend. I don't know why and how it started I just accidentally noticed that whenever I'm liking or into something, my man all the time makes all the possible ways to get my heart's little desire. May it be a surprise or not, he loves watching my face turning red brought about by intense happiness. Though I have been pampered with these material things I'm getting without me asking from him, I make it sure his being a giver will not be abused.

So when we were celebrating our nth monthsary ( ^_^ ) a delivery arrived into the doorway of our house. I was quite glad the moment I unraveled the package for it contained a Forever21  lace long sleeve and a book by one of my personal favorite authors. He truly knows the way to my heart. Lucky gf, ain't I? ^_-

Book Review

The very first time I took grip of the book, to admit, I wasn't quite amazed of it, nonchalant I'd become instead. The title didn't catch my attention plus it's so small, super small. My books are usually big, heavy, and thick, yet this one's just the smallest and the thinnest I ever had.  Plus, the pages are so dark for a paperback. Indeed, 'twas ugly by appearance. Though it's from Paulo C. I didn't read the book right away. It took me months as usual before I fin'lly read it, due also to the books stacked in shelf  which are to be read. So I placed it right at the bottom part of those unread books.

Fast forward to the day I got the juncture to  read it, I can only think of this very common quote people usually use, "Don't judge a book by it's cover" and well add to it its appearance, such a cliche, isn't it? The book, though minute in size contains too many substantial content. Never had I thought of a book as small and as thin as this can contain the most heaviest notion on earth ever existed.  It doesn't just a mere fiction. It is a by-product of  well-thought topics from a well-experienced author.

The book talks not just a single topic at hand. It doesn't just talk about philosophy, science, math and literature. It talks all those subtantial subjects/topics under the sun down from friendship, frienemy, marriage, up to death and many others. Beauty, happiness, giving up, winning, acceptance, loyalty, fear, bravery, solitude, love, hatred, elegance, name it and the book will surely have something for you not just to ponder but  to  touch your soul and influence your outlooks in life,

It's a book full of not just random musings but well-organized pensive thoughts on everything you needed which will surely have a life enhancing impact to the readers, as it did to me.

As a whole, it taught me a lot of things of which if I have to enumerate them will surely wont finish. The list is indeed endless. But one thing I'd like to share, this little book made me realize that in this multi-faceted life, we need not to grieve with  what has been lost but to find joy in sorrows. It inspired me not to dwell on the many negative repercussions but to always look at the brighter side of the coin. Because life at all isn't about how we did not fail but it's more on being able to stand up after we fell.

So to you guys, who've been looking for not only a book/story but also a compilation of pieces of advice, I highly recommend this for you to read. ^_^

"What is true to love is also true in war."

"Wait patiently for the right moment to act.
Do not let the next opportunity slip by you.
Take pride in your scars.

"Solitude is not the absence of Love, but its the complement."

"Therefore, blessed are those who do not fear solitude."

"If you are not alone, you cannot know yourself."

"The act of discovering who we are will force us to accept that we can go further than we think. And thst frightens us."

". . . nature longs for beauty and is satisfied only when beauty can be exalted,"

"Outer beauty is inner beauty mae visible, and it manifests itself in the light that flows from our eyes."

"Beauty is present in all creation, but the dangerous fact is that, because we human beings are often cut off from the Divine Energy, we allow ourselves to be influenced by what other people think. We deny our own beauty because others can't or won't recognize it. Instead of accepting who we are, we try to imitate what we see around us. We try to be what other people think of "pretty" and, little by little, our soul fades, our will weakens, and all the potential we had to make the world a more beautiful place withers away.

"We forget that the world is what we imagine it to be."

"Love is an act of faith, not an exchange."

A rose dreams of enjoying the company of bees, but none appears. The sun asks:
"Aren't you tired of waiting?"
"Yes" answers the rose, "but if I close my petals, I will wither and die."

"Our great goal in life is to love. The rest is silence."

". . . with every farewell comes a hidden place."

Quotes from Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist

www.paulocoelhocovers.blogspot.com
Bookish Mardi: Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist
"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." - Paulo Coelho

Book Summary
While sleeping near a sycamore tree in the sacristy of an abandoned church, Santiago, a shepherd boy, has a recurring dream about a child who tells him that he will find a hidden treasure if he travels to the Egyptian pyramids. An old woman tells Santiago that this dream is prophetic and that he must follow its instructions. Santiago is uncertain, however, since he enjoys the life of a shepherd.
Next Santiago meets a mysterious old man who seems able to read his mind. This man introduces himself as Melchizedek, or the King of Salem. He tells Santiago about good and bad omens and says that it is the shepherd boy's duty to pursue his Personal Legend. Melchizedek then gives Santiago two stones, Urim and Thummim, with which to interpret omens.
Santiago wavers briefly before selling his flock and purchasing a ticket to Tangier, in northern Africa, to which he travels by boat. Shortly after he arrives there, a thief steals all of Santiago's money, so the shepherd boy decides to look for a way to make enough money to return home. He finds work in the shop of a crystal merchant, where Santiago makes improvements that reap considerable financial rewards.
After eleven months of working in the shop, Santiago is unsure of how to proceed. Should he return to Andalusia a rich man and buy more sheep? Or should he cross the vast Sahara in pursuit of the hidden treasure of his dreams? He joins a caravan traveling to Egypt.
Santiago meets an Englishman who wants to learn the secret of alchemy, or turning any metal into gold, from a famous alchemist who lives at an oasis on the way to the pyramids. While traveling, Santiago begins listening to the desert and discovering the Soul of the World. The caravan eventually reaches the oasis, and there Santiago meets an Arab girl named Fatima and falls in love with her instantly. The caravan leader gathers the travelers together and tells them that tribal warfare prevents them from continuing their journey.
Santiago wanders from the oasis into the desert and, seeing two hawks fighting in the sky, has a vision of an army entering the oasis. Because attacking an oasis is a violation of the rules of the desert, Santiago shares his vision with the oasis's tribal chieftain. Soon afterward, Santiago is confronted by a black-garbed, veiled stranger with a sword, who sits atop a white horse. It is the alchemist. The tribal chieftain arms his men, and they are well-prepared when the oasis is indeed invaded. The alchemist offers to cross the desert with Santiago.
Soon the two men enter into an area of intense tribal warfare. Warriors hold the two men captive, but eventually allow them to continue their journey. The alchemist tells Santiago that he needs to return to the oasis, and that the rest of the trip is Santiago's to make alone so that he can claim his Personal Legend.
Santiago arrives at the Egyptian pyramids and begins to dig. He finds nothing buried in the ground. Thieves beat Santiago and rob him of his money. After he tells them of his dream, though, one of the thieves recounts his own dream about a buried treasure in the sacristy of an abandoned church.
Returning to Andalusia, Santiago goes back to the church where he dreamed of the treasure near the pyramids. He digs where he slept, beneath a sycamore tree, and there it is: Santiago's treasure.
